SHW has completed the sale of the Former Halfway Houses Primary School at Minster on Sea, Sheerness, on behalf of its client, Kent County Council.

The 3.75 acre property, located one mile from Sheerness town centre, has been purchased by Homes England with a view to obtaining planning permission for a residential led redevelopment of the site.
The former Halfway Houses School closed in October 2016 when it was relocated to a newly built facility close-by. The site, which currently comprises an array of former school buildings totalling 12,120 sq ft, is allocated for up to 60 dwellings in the Swale Local Plan.
SHW was instructed to dispose of the site, in the process seeking offers on both an unconditional and subject to planning basis. Following a diligent marketing campaign and close vetting of bidders, terms were agreed for a sale of the property at the guide price on an unconditional basis.
David Marcelline, Partner at SHW, said: “We are thrilled to have completed the sale of the Former Halfway Houses School for Kent County Council. In a challenging market environment, not only have we achieved a price in line with our guidance, but we have also done so on an unconditional basis, thus removing delay and uncertainty for our client”.
It has been a great experience working with both parties and demonstrates our ability to achieve best outcomes, whatever market conditions may be”.
Paul Dawson, Assistant Director, Acquisitions and Partnering at Homes England added: “The Agency is pleased to be working in partnership with SHW and Kent County Council to enable the delivery of a development that meets the needs of the local community.
This sale marks a significant milestone for the scheme and is an excellent example of how Homes England supports partners to make delivery happen."
