CSR, ESG & Sustainability, SHW News

Today, SHW is pleased to announce that we have joined the United Nations Global Compact and the UN Global Compact Network UK — a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation, and disclosure of responsible business practices.

With this announcement, SHW is proud to join thousands of other companies globally, and in the UK, committed to taking responsible business action to create the world we all want.

The UN Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals and issues embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 15,000 companies and 3,500 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, and 70+ Local Networks.

“The core of the United Nations Global Compact’s mission is to support companies doing business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with ten universal principles on human rights. Labour, environment and anti-corruption,” said Steve Kenzie, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network UK. “We also support business taking actions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. We are delighted and encouraged by SHW’s endorsement of our initiative.”

Russell Markham, SHW’s Managing Partner, says: “In line with our commitment to these principles, we are extremely proud to announce our joining of the United Global Compact and the UN Global Compact Network UK. This move aligns perfectly with our company ethos and is part of wider initiatives across the company, including our commitment to achieving our Planet Mark Business Certification.

“We encourage you to visit the UN Global Compact Network UK website to learn more about their work streams.”
