The Watson Theatre

The new drama facility seamlessly integrates with the existing building, mirroring its roof design while being connected by a central flat roof. The new studio is linked with the existing studio, which was fully refurbished as part of the project. In turn this would provide the school with the flexibility to utilise both studios as individual teaching spaces or opening up the movable acoustic partition to provide a double sized space that can be used for performances.

As part of the studio design, retractable seating was included to transform the space to a theatre. SHW worked closely with an experience theatre consultant to ensure both the lighting and audio system were fully integrated into the design. The new theatre provides a sophisticated setup to showcase students talents and elevates performances and learning.
