Classroom Teaching Centre

Architecture, Education

The Globe is a bespoke designed 23 classroom teaching building and Learning Resource Centre, constructed using sustainable materials.

The building is designed to be viewed in context with an adjacent structure, Medici, a performing arts building at Weydon School. This teaching centre is a highly functional building in layout and form using sustainable and robust building materials to meet the rigorous day to day requirements of school life.

The design is centred around the use of the Modcell Straw Bale Building System which uses structurally insulated wall and roof systems and is highly efficient in terms of low energy usage and we expect to be one of the first 'Carbon Negative' buildings created specifically for use in the education sector. The classrooms are of a generous size, around 70 square metres and include storage and presentation walls for teaching within a light and airy environment.
